A White ‘Hart’ Wedding
If you are looking for a smaller, more intimate country setting for your Westcountry wedding there is no more romantic than the White Hart Hotel on Dartmoor. Set in the heart of the historic market town of Moretonhampstead the hotel, with its 28 bedrooms, is large enough to provide sufficient accommodation yet small enough to feel intimate and to offer that vital attention to detail on which every successful wedding relies.
Dating back as a hostelry to 1775, doubtless many have celebrated their marriage here over the last 250 years. Originally the White Hart was a Posting Inn for horse-drawn carriages crossing the open moor and needing sustenance and shelter. The horses would have been changed and weary passengers provided with home cooked meals, local ‘scrumpy’ cider and a warm bed for the night. It is now a family-owned hotel on majestic Dartmoor that uplifts the spirit on the arrival of Spring, warms its guests with log fires in winter, provides delicious meals, cosy beds and hosts the most memorable of events.
