River Teign Fishing, Dartmoor
We are delighted to offer guests permits to fish wild trout and brown trout on the magnificent stretch of more than 10 miles of the river Teign controlled by the Upper Teign Fishing Association. The river is about 3 miles from the hotel and we have a map to help you with parking and orientation.
River Trout Fishing
Much of the fly fishing is for wild brown trout, with some stocked fish to supplement the population in a few stretches. A shortish rod, light lines and a selection of dry flies and nymphs such as an Adams or Pheasant Tail will get you going. A pair of waders are essential as the banks are mostly tree-lined. If you are fly fishing In the summer months there is the chance of a sea trout or salmon. The sea trout fishing is mainly at night and concentrated on a number of favourite pools.
